Your thyroid helps regulate metabolism and influences energy, weight, temperature, mood, digestion, cardiovascular function, reproductive health, and more. Thyroid hormone receptors are found throughout the body, which is why thyroid dysfunction can create symptoms that seem unrelated.
For some patients, adjusting thyroid medication is enough. For others, symptoms continue even when routine laboratory results appear “normal.” Some patients don't require thyroid hormone replacement at all, but they need the correct nutrients in order for the body to make and convert thyroid hormone into its useful form.
At The Center for Fully Functional® Health, we look beyond a single thyroid marker to understand the bigger picture. That may include thyroid hormone production and conversion, autoimmune activity, nutritional status, inflammation, gut health, hormones, environmental exposures, and other factors that may be affecting thyroid function.

Thyroid dysfunction does not always present as one obvious problem. Because thyroid hormones influence systems throughout the body, symptoms may first appear as fatigue, weight changes, brain fog, constipation, mood changes, hair loss, menstrual changes, or difficulty regulating body temperature.
For some patients, those symptoms develop gradually. Others have been told their thyroid testing is within range but still do not feel well.
That is why we look at your symptoms, history, laboratory results, medications, nutrition, and overall health together rather than relying on one number to tell the entire story.
Thyroid health is often more complex than whether a TSH result falls inside a reference range. Reference ranges are statistical, not aspirational; they're built from a general population that includes a lot of people who aren't metabolically healthy, so falling 'within normal' doesn't necessarily mean a result is optimal for you. That's why we look at how the entire thyroid system is functioning, including thyroid hormone production, conversion, autoimmune activity, and the factors that may influence those processes.
Your evaluation may include nutritional deficiencies, gut health, inflammation, chronic infections, hormone balance, environmental exposures, medications, stress, and other contributors based on your individual history. When appropriate, we also consider nutrients involved in thyroid hormone production and conversion, including iodine, selenium, zinc, magnesium, and B vitamins.
The goal is to understand why thyroid function may be disrupted and create a treatment strategy that supports your overall health, not simply a laboratory number.
